Antique (no PAL) Remington Beals "Model 1858" .36 Revolver early serial fine

sold BUT I have another still available cheaper in my ads - here is a Remington-Beals "Model 1858" Navy .36 caliber cap and ball percussion revolver, produced by Remington for the Union forces of the American Civil War between 1861 and 1862. These revolvers were the first order that brought Remington into the game as a major provider of military sidearms for the Union army. Only 14500 were made, but due to use in military conflict, natural degradation, wear, and usage there are likely many less in existence as functional guns today. This example is serial 6XX putting it right at the beginning of production in 1861. As a pre-1898 antique, this is considered "not a firearm" according to certain sections of the firearms act and criminal code, and can be sold to anyone over the age of 18 in Canada with no registration or restrictions on use. All the basics you'll need to get 'er out shooting are percussion caps, black powder, and .36 CAL lead balls (PAL needed to buy explosives and gunpowder).

*Price OBO-I have a very similar Remington 1861 Navy for sale also on my ads if you want something a bit cheaper!*

This revolver is in quite fair shape, with a fully functional action and all mechanisms performing as needed. The cylinder locks up tight with only about 1 mm of wiggle room, spins freely at half cock, and indexes reliably for full cock. The mainspring is nice and strong, and the hammer and cylinder are perfectly reliable. The seating lever, cylinder pin, and trigger all function fully. The percussion nipples are in fair shape with no major mushrooming, cracks, or other deformities. Should be a great shooter.

The visuals are pretty good all considered, with about 50% original smooth factory steel and finish remaining. The brass trigger guard has some minor scratches but is structurally great. The screw heads are all clean and unmarred. Very light surface pitting can be found throughout, but no significant rust or active oxidation. The 7 1/2" barrel is solid with defined but pitted rifling. The original hardwood grips are solid and show nice deep brown grain and colour.

No PAL, 18+
